After School Dismal Procedure

Good afternoon SJA Parents,

As we work to ensure the safest and most efficient system for student drop off, we would like to send out a few reminders to SJA parents.
  • Kiss and Ride runs every day from 3:30 - 3:40pm.  Parents choosing to not participate in the Kiss and Ride program are asked to wait until 3:40 to enter into the school building.
  • Parents wishing to sign their child(ren) out early may do so up until 3:20pm.  Parents may enter through the front door to sign out their child(ren).  Any parents entering through the front door before will be asked to wait at the front until their child can be called down via the PA system.  This will help to keep the hallways cleared for dismissal and for Kiss and Ride.
  • Parents entering through the front after 3:20 will have to wait until 3:40pm to enter the building.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our afternoon dismissal as safe and efficient as possible.

Congrats to our RISK-TAKER WINNERS for the Month of January! Hard work and taking risks in learning really pays off!!

Students will be bringing home their speeches this weekend to work on.  Below is a picture of an introductions and some "dos" and "don'ts" to write a good speech!

When assisting your children remind them a speech is like writing a report. We have discussed that we should not use "I" statements, and we should hint at the topic we are discussing and not state it directly.  Here are a few helpful links for students to use to get idea about how to start their speeches!

Year Ahead Day!

We said good bye to our usual class and welcomed in the grade 4s for next year!

We began our day with some math games such as Around the World, and then on we went to Plural Scoot. Students zoomed around the class looking under paper to turn singular words into plural ones.

Last period we worked on a meditation. The students got to create their own meditation and present it to the class.

The other periods of the day students attended french, music and gym. We are all exhausted!

SJA is excited to announce that Year Ahead Day is happening again this year!  All SJA PYP students will be participating in this exciting event on Wednesday, January 25th.   Year Ahead Day is a fun and interactive day for the students at SJA to spend a day in the class of the grade level ahead of them (example: SK students spend their day as Grade 1 students, Grade 6 students spend their day as Grade 7 students, etc.).  This is a great way for the students at SJA to get a glimpse into their future life at SJA!  Students can get to know the teachers, see their future classroom, and take part in activities they will be participating in next year. Please know that the teacher that is assigned for your child does not mean this will be your child's classroom teacher next year. Our class will be going to Ms. Ramnarine's for the day to get an idea of what a day in Grade 5 will be like! Re-registration forms are due on February 9th.
