Cold Weather: The cold snowy weather is back for a visit! Please ensure you are sending proper outdoor gear including snow pants, hats/earmuffs, mitts/gloves, and winter boots. Students spend at least 50 minutes outside everyday and we want them to be warm. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter!

SJA Parent Guild is hosting another fantastic movie night and dance. It will take place on Friday, February 24 from 6:30-9:00 PM (free childcare from 6-6:30) in the SJA auditorium. The movie is Pixar Short Films (PG). Tickets are $10 each and included popcorn, bottle water, and a treat. Pizza will also be available for $2 a slice. All forms and money are due by Thursday, February 16!

A note regarding pick up: As we work to ensure the safest and most efficient system for student drop off, we would like to send out a few reminders to SJA parents.

Kiss and Ride runs every day from 3:30 - 3:40pm. Parents choosing to not participate in the Kiss and Ride program are asked to wait until 3:40 to enter into the school building.

Parents wishing to sign their child(ren) out early may do so up until 3:20pm.  Parents may enter through the front door to sign out their child(ren). Any parents entering through the front door before will be asked to wait at the front until their child can be called down via the PA system. This will help to keep the hallways cleared for dismissal and for Kiss and Ride.

Parents entering through the front after 3:20 will have to wait until 3:40pm to enter the building.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our afternoon dismissal as safe and efficient as possible.

UOI:  Today we began working on a bit of art. Students began designing their own Coat of Arms. Coat of Arms were used by knights in battle. Because they wore so much armour no one knew them by face, thus wearing a coat of arms allowed the knights to be known. The Coat of Arms is a symbol of the family last name.

Assignment is due Monday!

"Wanted" Poster. Here are some examples below. Wanted Posters are due on Friday!

Math: We learned about different 3D figures. We learned about edges and vertices. Students broke down the 3D shape and drew out the different faces that it is composed of. Lastly, students made real world connections to solids they find surrounding them. For example, a ball is a sphere, a Tim's cup is a cylinder.

Please bring in empty toilet paper rolls, cereal boxes, tissue boxes etc. to school. We will need these for the end of our Geometry unit.

Language: Spelling Lesson 20 due Friday. Spelling Test Friday!

Students worked on a sheet in their groups today. They read a short paragraph, created a title for the paragraph and then summarized it in 3 sentences. We worked on finding the important points and why a title is important (It tells the main idea about the paragraph).

Good copy of speeches are being worked on between today and tomorrow. Speeches must be printed or written in cursive for those who know how. Students should start memorizing their speech over the weekend. A rubric will be sent home with your child this weekend so they are familiar with how they will be marked. Students are expected to have their speeches memorized. Oral Competition is on Feb. 24th.

A reminder that all work for speeches is to be done in class, unless other wise stated. All speeches should be between 2-3 minutes. Thank you for your cooperation!
