The cold snowy weather is back for a visit! Please ensure you are sending proper outdoor gear including snow pants, hats/earmuffs, mitts/gloves, and winter boots. Students spend at least 50 minutes outside everyday and we want them to be warm. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter!
SJA Parent Guild is hosting another fantastic movie night and dance. It will take place on Friday, February 24 from 6:30-9:00 PM (free childcare from 6-6:30) in the SJA auditorium. The movie is Pixar Short Films (PG). Tickets are $10 each and included popcorn, bottle water, and a treat. Pizza will also be available for $2 a slice. All forms and money are due by Thursday, February 16!
A note regarding pick up: As we work to ensure the safest and most efficient system for student drop off, we would like to send out a few reminders to SJA parents.
• Kiss and Ride runs every day from 3:30 - 3:40pm. Parents choosing to not participate in the Kiss and Ride program are asked to wait until 3:40 to enter into the school building.
• Parents wishing to sign their child(ren) out early may do so up until 3:20pm. Parents may enter through the front door to sign out their child(ren). Any parents entering through the front door before will be asked to wait at the front until their child can be called down via the PA system. This will help to keep the hallways cleared for dismissal and for Kiss and Ride.
• Parents entering through the front after 3:20 will have to wait until 3:40pm to enter the building.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep our afternoon dismissal as safe and efficient as possible.
UOI: We read about medieval clothing and that the clothes showed your hierarchy. Peasants would wear rags and the Nobility would wear luxurious materials such as silk. Students then were able to design their own clothes from the medieval ages.
"Wanted" Poster. Here are some examples below. Wanted Posters are due on Friday!
Math: Today we learned about quadrilaterals. We measured the angles of quadrilaterals to be able to classify them as trapezoids, rectangles etc. Students found that the quadrilaterals that had the same angle pattern belonged to the same quadrilateral family.
Please bring in empty toilet paper rolls, cereal boxes, tissue boxes etc. to school. We will need these for the end of our Geometry unit.
Language: Spelling Lesson 20 due Friday. Spelling Test Friday!
We will be having our final OWA assessment in the coming weeks. Students can be practicing writing summaries at home by reading a book and then writing a summary. The History of Gum summary is due tomorrow! Students should pick out the important points of the article and put it in their own words. Below are the important points we picked out in class together.
Speeches should be completed by the end of the week. This includes good copy! Next week we will be starting our practice periods. A rubric will be sent home with your child this weekend so they are familiar with how they will be marked. Students are expected to have their speeches memorized. Oral Competition is on Feb. 24th.
A reminder that all work for speeches is to be done in class, unless other wise stated. All speeches should be between 2-3 minutes. Thank you for your cooperation!
